Plug n Play Raspberry Pi image for running GIMX

Here is the image I put on all of the Raspberry Pi plug n play packages I sell:

gimx_dietpi.zip

Just unzip, and burn to an sd card 2gb or larger using Win32 Disk Imager.

It’s made for Raspberry Pi, and it emulates G27 as G29 by default. It auto-starts GIMX and takes advantage of a status led and shutdown switch if available, like so: http://gimx.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1617

As far as I can tell, the image works equally well on Raspberry Pi Model B+, as well as Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, and I assume everything in between. It’s pretty easy to switch to emulate something other than G27 – see link. It’s based on DietPi, which means it is command line only, no GUI.

I have an older Raspbian image that has a GUI, but it is larger and less conveniently set up. Find it here: rpi_gimx.zip.

  1. Hi Steve,

Does the adaptor that you’re selling work with a keyboard and mouse? I’m trying to play some FPS and with the DS4 is almost impossible.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi.

I have (access to) a Rasbperry Pi 3 model B.

So all I need is your standard diy USB adapter and this image above to make the PS4 work with my G25? If you dont mind me asking, what is the separate button and led for that you sell as part of the combined unit? Is it necessary to have it?

Otherwise I will order it with shipping to the UK, as I’m missing my g25 wheel on driveclub!

    1. Yeah, that’s all you need. You don’t really need the led+switch. If the sd card ever gets corrupted, just burn a fresh image 🙂 I also sell the led/switch separately if you want.

  3. Does the RPi image support gadget mode so the usb adapter is no longer required?

I saw some posts about dummy_hcd to speed development but that was 18 months ago and was unable to find anything since.

    1. Never heard of gadget mode, or how to avoid using an adapter. If you could link me to some info, I’d appreciate it.

  4. Tried your image on a raspberry pi 3 + g27 + ps4 and plugged in just like your photo (minus the extra led). GIMX lights up, Pi lights up, wheel does nothing. Am I missing something? When I plug the wheel into a computer, it lights up/calibrates, so my wheel still works. Tried having GIMX + Pi powered on and plugged in for 5 minutes before turning on PS4 and then controller. Nothing works.

    1. Sorry for the extremely late reply. From what I’ve seen the wheel initializes as soon as it sees a usb connection. Maybe try powering the pi with a higher power source, like a wall adapter? Gimx forums might be your best bet to have questions answered.

  5. Hey,
Can you make another plug n play dietpi version using the latest version of gimx, id be eternally grateful.Im a happy customer, its to technical other than this way fotr me, cheers

    1. I’m really sorry, I don’t have time to work on this anymore. Maybe someone on the gimx forum can help you out.

  6. Bonjour,
Fabriquez vous encore des raspberry pi package prĂ©chargĂ© (Logitech dfgt vers g29)? Je n’ai pas de PC portable pour faire tourner le gimx. Merci bonne journĂ©e
